Emery/Plumley History
Provided by Clyde Plumley
Berry and Millie Pruitt Emery owned the property which the cemetery is on. They had several daughters: Annie, Lula, Rosa, Janey, and Tilda.
There were four (4) Plumley brothers with homes near Glassy Mountain . Three of the Emery daughters picked husbands from these families. Annie married Claude Plumley who was the grandson of John Plumley, one of the four (4) brothers. Lula married Rufus Plumley and Rosa married Jim Plumley. Rufus and Jim were brothers and the sons of Jack Plumley who was another of the four (4) Plumley brothers.
On down the line, Albert Emery, who was the son of John Emery and grandson of Berry and Millie Emery married Annie Maude Plumley who was the sister of Claud Plumley who had married Annie Emery who was the sister of John Emery.
Leon Emery who was a younger brother of Alber Emery married Jessie Plumley who was the daughter of Johnny Plumley who was the son of George, who was the son of John, one (2) of the four (4) brothers.
So, out of all these unions there was no marrying of cousins or knfolk but it did produce a lot of double first cousins.
